Common

Rap/Hip Hop

Chicago rapper Rashid Lynn, known as Common, is an industry unto himself -- rapper, actor, poet, producer and label owner. As a rapper, he's known for expressing himself with intelligence and a subtle sense of humor, rather than randomly using hard posturing or cartoon gangster themes. He launched his career in 1992 with "Can I Borrow a Dollar?" and broke big in 2002 with "Like Water for Chocolate."
