Citizens Planning Academy: Idaho Urban Renewal - stories from around the state

Join us on June 5 for "Idaho Urban Renewal: stories from communities large and small." This is the fifth session in the 2019 Citizens Planning Academy series, and will be a panel discussion on the role of urban renewal in communities around the state. Panelist include: Ryan Armbruster– Ryan’s major practice areas involve municipal law, redevelopment work on behalf of urban renewal agencies, and municipal financing. He is responsible for providing legal services to urban renewal agencies around the state. He has been instrumental in the implementation of Idaho’s Urban Renewal Law and Economic Development Act. Meghan Conrad– Meghan’s practice focuses on local economic development with extensive representation to urban renewal agencies throughout the state on issues including structuring of private-public partnerships, government contracts, tax increment financing, litigation, appeals and governmental relations. Michelle Groenevelt– Michelle is the community and economic development director at the city of McCall. She manages the department responsible for planning, building, grant writing, GIS, and economic development. Michelle serves on the board of directors for Idaho Smart Growth, the Payette Land Trust and on the planning committee for the Mountain and Resort Town Planners Summit. Nathan Murray– Nathan lives in Twin Falls, where he is the city’s director of economic development as well as executive director for its urban renewal agency. Presently, he is overseeing four separate infrastructure improvement projects in downtown Twin Falls, valued at $20M. The Citizens Planning Academy series is a collaborative project of Idaho Smart Growth and the U of I Bioregional Planning Program and is designed to help citizens become effective advocates on a wide range of planning topics.
