40th Idaho Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition June 2 - 27, 2019 Founded in 1979, the Idaho Watercolor Society is a non-profit organization that promotes the use of watercolor media and aims to educate the public regarding the significance of watercolor painting in today’s settings. Through programs, workshops, exhibitions and scholarships, IWS helps artists of all ages develop their talents and reach the highest standards of excellence. This exhibition showcases a glimpse at the breadth of styles the medium can achieve and highlights watercolor artists throughout Idaho. This year’s juror is Iain Stewart, a watercolor artist, illustrator and a signature member of the American and National Watercolor Societies. Stewart uses atmospheric and lighting techniques in his work to create romantic representations of the places he sketches. He says, “The underlying narrative in my work is not based on any theme in particular but how ‘place’ is inhabited and used daily.” Exhibition Location Student Union Fine Arts Gallery, Boise State University Exhibition Reception Friday June 7th, 2019 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Awards Ceremony Friday June 7th, 2019 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Hatch Ballroom Event is free and open to the public.
