STEM Summer Camp: Engineering Fairy Tales and Coding | Grades PreK - 2nd

STEM disciplines covered: Game Design, Coding, Environmental Engineering, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Camp Description: The ?rst part of this camp will introduce our youngest students to Coding using Scratch. Students will embark on a journey to space and send an astronaut to the moon to defend their moon base from space rocks. At the end of this camp, students will take home their video game home. In the second part of camp, students will explore a few fairy tales from the point of view of an engineer and engage in activities to investigate solutions for each fairy tale’s obstacles. Students will explore several di?erent areas of engineering. Students will engage with engineering concepts using a hands-on approach to help them better understand the Engineering Design Process.

STEM Summer Camp: Robotics Engineering and Game Design

STEM disciplines covered: Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Coding, Game Design. Camp Description: During the ?rst part of camp, students will be introduced to STEM fundamentals through the world of Robotics. Students will design, build, and program their robots to accomplish speci?c tasks. They will use the Engineering Design Process in a real-world setting as they test and improve the performance of their robots. Through these engaging hands-on activities, they will develop intuitive and fundamental skills. During the second part of camp, students will learn the basics of video game design. They will be immersed in the study and practice of video game design. Students will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard and outline the rules of play for their game.
